A Message from the Commissioner

Dear Fellow Motorist:

This booklet, "Ways to Save", is provided to help you choose appropriate coverages and limits when you buy your automobile insurance. It also contains information on the Safe Driver Insurance Plan to help you make sure that your premium is based on your correct step. Understanding the Plan encourages us all to drive defensively and safely. No one wants to pay more for their automobile insurance than necessary.

There is another important step we all can take to help keep premiums down. Help deter auto insurance fraud. No one steals from "big insurance companies". They steal from consumers like you and me, because we pay the premiums.

Report all accidents that involve other drivers, passengers and pedestrians promptly, no matter how small. If at all possible, take notes and photographs before you leave the scene. Try to get everyone's name, including any witnesses. And, use this number: 1-800-32FRAUD to report suspected automobile insurance fraud directly to the Insurance Fraud Bureau.
